U.S. will continue to send arms to Israel.
The U.S. Department of State released a report to Congress stating that Israel’s assurances that it will comply with international humanitarian laws are “credible and reliable.” However, the administration noted that it is reasonable to believe that U.S.-supplied arms may have, in certain instances, been used in ways that do not adhere to international law, though they have been unable to verify it.
The report was created under a National Security Memorandum from President Joe Biden in February to ascertain whether Israel was using American weapons in accordance with U.S. and international law. In light of the findings in the report, the U.S. intends to continue to supply Israel with munitions.
The State Department report also stated, “Hamas does not follow any portion of and consistently violates international law.”
